And in-store specials worth queuing for
20% off of all pre-owned vinyl
Insane R100 New & Sealed vinyl box (one copy, per release, per person)
R5 - R10 7" singles
10% off of all turntables and hi-fi components
Special RSD hi-fi & turntable starter packs and package specials
And some some special RSD titles will be in stock
Mr Vinyl has ordered a number of RSD releases from participating record labels. For those of you that don't know RSD releases are special limited edition vinyl releases that only come out on Record Store Day and are hugely collectible. Unfortunately Europe and North America are given a huge preference over us down here. We basically land up with 'whatever is left', but looks like they'll be at least 12 RSD titles in stock on the day.
To keep it as fair as possible, we're limiting this to one copy, per release, per person.
Album Launches & Signing Sessions
Daniel Basckin will be launching his debut EP as a Record Store Day release. It is limited to 30 units and will be available at our store on the day. Daniel will be doing a short live performance from 13h00.

WE'RE SKIPPING THE STRAWS AT STANLEY
In a constant effort to change the impact we have on the environment 44 Stanley will no longer be serving plastic straws with drinks in its restaurants.
The centre and its tenants have been working very hard to create a space that is sensitive to the environment and aware of the impact of all the businesses on both its visitors and employees. We have an ethos of ethical and considerate sourcing and manufacturing in all our shops and restaurants and try to promote local business wherever possible. We realise that we need to be consistent and accordingly need to also reduce our use of single use plastic and improve our recycling initiatives.
We know that all our customers will assist us in supporting the initiative and hopefully decide to refuse plastic straws elsewhere (we know many of you do already). We will be offering customers who feel they require a straw - a reusable reed straw as we launch our plastic straw free zone.
These biodegradable straws from Khanyiso Straws are made from reeds that are ecologically sustainable, grow abundantly in Mozambique and can be used up to 20 times.
If you would like to learn more about the impact of plastic straws please have a look at the the resources like Straw Free Org, watch the video showing a plastic straw found stuck in a sea turtles nostril (warning it's graphic) and there a number of talks you can watch on TEDtalks - the one by 9 year old Molly Steer is pretty straight forward and shows that we can really be impactful by sharing the message.
Spread the word by encouraging others to stop using straws.

Weekend Special..
It's feeling a bit miserable in Jozi, grey and a little chilly, but we've got deals and sales galore to brighten your weekend. You'll find Lunar's huge summer sale with up to 50% off on some items, Vendange are given you 20% off all baskets, Polish Nail Spa has their Budget Beater manicure special and Mungo have extended their factory sale to Johannesburg so you'll get up to 30% off on items.
A Valentine's Guide #4 - dressing up for the occasion
Valentine's Day may be one of the few days that you get to go out and dress up or just another evening in your busy social life, but either way you want to be looking fine. Remember that we have a huge selection of fashion and accessories available to shop at #44 Stanley
Black Coffee has a wonderful selection of statement pieces and evening wear. Candice McKay from Wyatt Hair is right on point using this piece in her new collection, The Brave.
Lucky Fish stocks the amazing Adele Dejak jewellery range - we've got our eye on one of these rings - aren't they gorgeous?
Guillotine Design's separates and dresses are fashionable and wearable and can be dressed up or down. Why not accessorise them with a L'MAD scarf (literally a wearable work of art).
We haven't forgotten the men. Dressing up is made easy with suiting and great clothes from Odrin. We don't know if your Valentine's evening will be smart enough to justify wearing a tux, but if it is, we say "Go for it!".
A piece of statement Pichulik jewellery will finish off any outfit and make you feel like the beautiful, powerful woman you are.
Do you want to wear classic evening dress? You'll be able to find something simple, elegant and just what you're looking for at Lunar
A Valentine's Gift Guide #3 - lots of love for yourself
We all enjoy the attention from a lover or secret admirer but let's not forget that we should give ourselves a little love too. But how you ask? We've got some ideas.
A long bath is always a treat (aren't we lucky we're in Johannesburg) and even better with one of Bed Bath Body's foam baths.
A hot new haircut makes you feel wonderful. We just love Michelle from Equilibrio's new look, courtesy of Wyatt Hair. Book your appointment to remind yourself how gorgeous you are.
A little pampering goes a long way - book your appointment at Polish Nail Spa to make you feel all groomed and sparkly.
Soft natural linen against your skin is the ultimate luxury, create your own haven at home with bed linen from Mungo Design.

A Valentine's Gift Guide #2 - activities to do together
Want to do something together but not necessarily the normal Valentine's thing? We've got some ideas..
Spend a Chocolate Adventure evening together at Chocoloza. Yes this is a thing. You'll taste chocolate, try your hand at chocolate making and receive chocolates! Book asap to avoid disappointment.
Have brunch together (during the week) at Salvation Cafe. We think having breakfast together is always romantic so why not take time out during the week to do it together. Try one of the benedicts, or the breakfast burrito. You can thank us later..
Spend a morning learning together at one of Bean There Coffee's cupping mornings. You will learn about the process of coffee from crop to cup and get to taste some delicious coffee. The next one takes place this Saturday, the 10th February and they are limited places. Be sure to book your spot soon.
Have a picnic at one of Joburg's beautiful green spaces, our new favourite is the Wilds which is experiencing an amazing revival largely due to the amazing efforts of artist, James Delaney. Not sure what to eat? Impress your partner with something completely delicious from The Leopard. They can also help you with food to enjoy at home - who needs a fancy restaurant anyway?
A Valentine's Gift Guide #1 - The Big Gesture
We're shaking things up a little and suggesting some things for Valentines Day that are a little different.
Here are some ideas for those of you that want to make a BIG GESTURE for either the person you've been with for years or someone you've got your eye on..
So bling is always big - but if you're going to really spoil the person in your life, choose something extra special like a custom designed piece by Sirkel Jewellery. The design and workmanship is just exceptional.
So who can forget this scene from 'Say Anything'? (If you're too young - it was an 80's classic rom-com). No big money, but there was no denying his intentions. Choose some great music - play him or her a song and of course, it's always more romantic on vinyl. Mr Vinyl has a huge selection of music from classic jazz to the latest releases.
A custom shirt from five8ths is just that - made for only one lucky person. Perfect for any man or woman who appreciates quality and attention to detail.
