Community is more important than ever - we’re lucky to be part of an amazing network of passionate people who have always treasured small and independent businesses and have a special place in their heart for Johannesburg and its inhabitants, many of which are from other parts of the continent and face immense challenges.
So when our friends at Johannesburg in Your Pocket told us that Three2Six would need masks for the 225 pupils that they support through their amazing programme, we knew that their was a way to help.
For 12 years, the Three2Six project, based at Sacred Heart College, Holy Family College and Observatory Girls’ Primary School, have been helping refugee children in Johannesburg find a safe place to learn. Every day from 3pm to 6pm Three2Six hosts school lessons for 225 refugee children who due to their status as refugees are not able to access a regular school environment.
Through the programme, children recovering from trauma receive education, emotional support and the necessary preparation to enter a normal school environment, as well as school uniforms and meals. During lockdown Three2Six have been innovating to provide lessons and stimulation at home for their 225 students through whatsapp and via pre-recorded lessons broadcast on the Catholic radio station Radio Veritas.
Rowdy Bags are one of our tenants that immediately adapted their leather bag making business to one that manufactures masks. They are making and selling an effective and affordable range of masks which include children masks that only cost R15 each.
So we’re reaching out to you, our community, to purchase Rowdy masks for the kids at Three2Six for when they return to school in June.
How will it work?
Head to Rowdy Bags and find the Three2Six Charity Collab product
Purchase the pack of 3 masks for only R45
44 Stanley will then deliver these masks directly to Three2Six to ensure all their pupils have masks when they return to class
How you will help?
You’ll be assisting the children to stay safe and attend their classes as soon as they are able to.
You’ll be supporting Rowdy Bags, an exceptional local business that employs skilled artisans and is unable to sell its bags as it did prior to lockdown.
All for less than the price of 2 cups of coffee!
