Africa Textile Talks comes to Johannesburg for a special edition celebrating the people, materials and ideas shaping African fashion and textiles.
From Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 October 2025, the event will feature an exhibition, THREADS OF RENEWAL II, showcasing innovative textile design, craft, and material practices from across the continent. The summit, held on Saturday 11 October at the Bioscope, will be a half-day programme of talks and panel discussions exploring circular fashion and textiles, regenerative and natural materials, and how the past shapes the future of African fashion. On Sunday 12 October, join us for a book talk. Hosted by Twyg, Africa Textile Talks, fosters collaboration and dialogue between designers, makers, researchers, and brands working towards a regenerative and inclusive textile future. Whether you’re a designer, artisan, student, or fashion enthusiast, this Johannesburg edition brought to you by V&A Watershed offers a space to connect, learn, and imagine new possibilities for African textiles. All the events take place at 44 Stanley.
The African Textile Exhibition will be taking place at the The Library of Things We Forgot to Remember:
